EMEC and EU initiatives
The Commission Directive 2008/67/EC (fourth amendment of the technical annexes) amending directive 96/968/EC on marine equipment(the so called MED) was adopted on 30 June 2008 and published on the Official Journal (OJ L 171, p. 16) on 1st July. Download it from here.

A proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules and standards for ship inspection and survey organizations and for the relevant activities of maritime administrations was presented on 23/11/2005.
