Marine Equipment Directive

The Commission Directive 2008/67/EC (fourth amendment of the technical annexes) amending directive 96/968/EC on marine equipment(the so called MED) was adopted on 30 June 2008 and published on the Official Journal (OJ L 171, p. 16) on 1st July. Download it from here.

"Class Directive"

Legislation

A proposal of a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules and standards for ships inspections and survey organizations and for the relevant activities of maritime administrations was presented on the 23/11/2005. EMEC concentrated on art.20 of the proposal (for more details see EMEC position paper). The proposal was adopted on the 28th of may 2009 including a Directive and Regulation in which art. 10 (replacing art.20) is now included.

Workshop

On the 20th of October 2009 with the view to give a clear understanding on the new regulation to a wide public as well as in order to launch close cooperation between the marine Equipment industry and the EU recognized Organizations, EMEC organized an international workshop in Brussels.
