Jean-Marc Taillardat
Jean-Marc Taillardat got an Electrical degree in Power Electronics and then a degree in Computer Science at the "Universitè Technologique de Compiégne" in France.
In 1978, he joined as a commissioning engineer CGEE ALSTHOM, an engineering company that became later CONVERTEAM. In 1981, he moved to the Engineering Department to develop new electrical solutions for Marine applications, shaft generators (PTO/PTI) first and then Electrical Propulsion Systems. He was the Technical Manager of the team that developed the first ever modern electrical propulsion for a cruise liner, the Star Princess that has been launched in 1989. Since then, this type of propulsion has become a new standard for this kind of vessels. He then managed the development of a new range of podded propulsions in partnership with ROLLS-ROYCE.
He is currently Technical Director of the CONVERTEAM Southern Europe Middle East and Africa unit. In this role, he is managing all the R&D activities related to Energy Conversion that include specifically new solutions for power generation, distribution and propulsion on board of ships.
