CASMARE
CASMARE is the Coordination Action to maintain and further develop a Sustainable MAritime Research in
T
CASMARE will implement and update the WATERBORNE Research Strategy. CASMARE is a follow-up of the achievements of ACMARE.
The objectives of CASMARE are the following
- RDI Coordination & Cooperation and Commitment to implement the WSRA. To stimulate and motivate all key stakeholders to work together in order to achieve the RDI targets of the WATERBORNE Vision (2020, 2025,
) and to mobilise the necessary public (EU, National, Regional, Local) and private funding to achieve the WATERBORNE strategic goals by strengthening the necessary relations between public and private European stakeholders;
- Monitoring of research programmes and mapping against the WIRM 2007 to measure coherence and progress. To develop and implement a consistent methodology (including measurements/metrics/parameters) to monitor on the one hand the real impact of the WATERBORNE Research Strategy documents on EU and national research programmes, and on the other hand the progress of the state of the art to be mapped against the WIRM 2007;
- Exploring new opportunities to meaningfully expand the platforms horizons. To liaise with other ETPs, research groupings & initiatives within and beyond maritime transport in order to monitor the status of development in basic technical areas(nano technologies, IT,
), to exchange best practice experience and to identify areas of possible common interest and promising possible cooperation(s);
- Maritime Knowledge, Education and Training. To stimulate initiatives that aim at maintaining the required knowledge in Europe (such as EIT/KIC) and to stimulate the participation in the development of education and training programmes with a view to maintain and improve the European high-skilled workforce, which can ensure an effective future implementation of the new technologies;
- Ongoing development of waterborne RDI Policy and of Consensus base. To support the (revised) Lisbon Process, the Maritime Policy and the ERA and to broaden the existing consensus among all key stakeholders (including members states) through a more intensive ongoing communication and dissemination process, contributing to raise the general awareness of maritime RDI requirements and initiatives and thus increasing the visibility of the platform and the waterborne issues at European and National levels; to understand and agree to the WATERBORNE visions and objectives and implement the WATERBORNE Research Strategy;
- Continuous Update of the WATERBORNE Research Strategy documents. To keep up-to date with the evolution of the state-of-the-art and identify the research gaps in order to revise (where and when necessary) the three documents of the WATERBORNE Research Strategy:
- the common long and medium term Vision (Vision 2025),
- the related Strategic Research Agenda (WSRA, setting out the key priorities on maritime R&D matters),
- the Implementation Route Map (of the WSRA, the WIRM 2007).
- Administrative Support. To provide all necessary administrative support to the running of the project and particularly to the drafting, publishing, promotion and the implementation of the WSRA, in order to guarantee that its scopes and benefits are communicated effectively between the relevant parties.
